Tosin Amire speaks about music the way some people speak about faith — with humility, wonder, and an abiding sense of purpose. A media composer and sound designer at SOUND INSIGHTS PRODUCTION, he has built a reputation as one of Nollywood’s gifted musical storytellers, creating soundscapes that deepen emotion and give life to cinematic narratives. Though he studied Applied Mathematics at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, his journey ultimately followed the call of music, a passion nurtured from childhood and refined through years of disciplined practice and experimentation.

Raised in a Christian Apostolic environment, Tosin’s earliest encounters with music came through church life, family influences, and an insatiable curiosity about sound. He taught himself to play multiple instruments — including piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, and percussion —while also immersing himself in composition, orchestration, and sound design. Today, his work spans film scores, original soundtracks, choral compositions, and instrumental pieces that reveal both technical mastery and emotional depth.

For Tosin, inspiration is everywhere. A passing street vendor’s song, a conversation, a social reality, or a fleeting emotion can become the seed of a composition. This openness to life’s rhythms is evident in works such as Belinda, a moving reflection on resilience and social perception, and Cry for Laodicea, an ambitious musical meditation that journeys through sorrow, reflection, and redemption. His compositions often blend classical influences with African sensibilities, creating music that feels both intimate and expansive.

Despite his growing body of work and recognition within Nollywood, Tosin remains remarkably grounded. He credits continual learning, mentorship, and relentless curiosity for his artistic growth. Listening to him speak, one discovers that beyond the composer’s technical skill lies a deeper gift: the ability to translate human experience into music that lingers long after the final note fades. In June 2025, Tosin had a conversation with Kolawole Olaiya of Nollywood in Review. This is the conversation below:
