Towards the end of May, 2025, we had the privilege of diving into the world of gospel filmmaking with one of Nigeria’s most talented and visionary filmmakers, Kunle Adepoju. Kunle is not only a gifted cinematographer and director but also a respected film production consultant whose expertise spans multiple facets of the industry. As the driving force behind KALF Initiative, a leading lighting firm based in Ibadan, and the director of studies at MEFA, Kunle’s impact on Nigerian gospel cinema is both profound and far-reaching. Beyond his leadership roles, he generously shares his knowledge as a visiting instructor at various film schools, including MZI, nurturing the next generation of storytellers. A born-again filmmaker, Kunle is deeply committed to using his craft to promote positive values, preach good morals, and contribute to a society uplifted by faith and integrity. His passion lies in telling faith-based stories with a polished, professional touch that resonates deeply with audiences while maintaining artistic and technical excellence. In a memorable evening spent together in Ibadan, Kola Olaiya of Nollywood in Review engaged Kunle in a compelling conversation that revealed the evolving landscape of gospel filmmaking. This discussion not only highlights the incredible range of skills gospel filmmakers are cultivating but also challenges common misconceptions and “single stories” often told about Christian films. Join us now as we explore the creative vision, technical mastery, and spiritual mission behind Kunle Adepoju’s work — a journey that offers fresh insight into Nollywood’s gospel film sector and the powerful stories that continue to inspire and transform.

This is so inspiring and mind-lifting. A clear testament to the fact that morality and culture do not have to be jettisoned before people are entertained. Whether in secular or gospel filmmaking, quality premium should be given to decency. There is a dire need for values and virtues as of old to be sustained in our society. With this highly educative interview, there cannot be any excuse or justification for indecency and illicit features in whatever genre of filmmaking. May wise counsel continue to prevail in all areas of our national life.
